Angkor Resources' Enercam Makes Advances in Preparation for Seismic

15:00 Uhr  |  The Newswire
GRANDE PRAIRIE - (April 23, 2025): Angkor Resources Corp. (TSXV: ANK) ("ANGKOR" OR "THE COMPANY") announces the onshore oil and gas team for its energy subsidiary, EnerCam Resources (Cambodia) Co. Ltd. ("EnerCam") advances the programing steps for the 2-D seismic program on Block VIII as part of the first onshore oil and gas well to be drilled in Cambodia.

Joint Review Committee

The Production Sharing Contract includes specific conditions that were established to move the project forward, two of which require that:

  1. EnerCam and the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) were to establish a joint review committee to meet regularly on all facets of the planned and executed exploration activities. Four members from EnerCam and four members of MME have now formed a joint committee with Mike Weeks and Keith Edwards representing EnerCam with Mads Braemer and Delayne Weeks being alternates.

  1. Any contacts in excess of US$500,000 will include the submission and comparison of the bids to the joint committee plus the selected winning bidder for the contract for the approval from MME.

The seismic program cost will be well in excess of the US$500,000 threshold.

Because the terms of the PSC only allow on-ground exploration after the EIA is complete and approved, the initial scoping survey was undertaken using existing reconnaissance data previously acquired by EnerCam when researching Block VIII. Combining the locations of surface seeps, topographical maps, in-house geological reports, Google Earth, and other tools allowed the layout and plan for 350-line kilometer seismic (shown in the map above). This work was completed concurrently while the independent environmental contractors complete the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

Wherever possible, the seismic will be shot on established roadways or existing trails to minimize the activity footprint.

A seismic scoping outline identifies first, the existing roadways on which seismic will be shot, second the land areas that are cleared with some form of vegetation, third the forested areas that are yet undeveloped, and fourth all bridges, waterways, and natural environmental elements.

Like other jurisdictions, if Enercam's seismic program passes over private land, EnerCam contacts each landowner for prior permission and provides education about the process and expectations. In the event where the project will venture off the road and onto producing cropland, then EnerCam ensures the landowner is compensated for any damages.

The pathways for the seismic shall include deep level UXO (unexploded ordinance) clearance as a proactive measure, so any roads, intended trails, or paths for the seismic lines shall be safely cleared before equipment is allowed.

Mike Weeks, President of EnerCam comments on the steps, "These are similar practices that we have undertaken for the past 13 years on the mineral licenses. We maintain high safety standards at all times. Although most of the areas through which we travel and complete seismic have already had deep clearance completed on the roads and land, we will manage UXO clearance on any areas that are remote. "

The seismic will only begin when both the Ministry of Environment and MME approve the EIA on Block VIII, which has been underway across over 3700 square kilometres since mid March.
