HudBay Minerals Releases 2009 Corporate Social Responsibility Report

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/18/10 -- HudBay Minerals Inc. ('HudBay', the 'company') (TSX: HBM) today announced the release of its 2009 Corporate Social Reasonability report, which is available on the home page of the company's website and in the 'Sustainability' section at http://www.hudbayminerals.com/assets/pdf/SustainabilityReports/10_15_10%20CSR%20Report_FINAL.pdf.

The 2009 CSR report is the sixth HudBay has published in accordance with the guiding principles of Toward Sustainable Mining (TSM) and the second published in accordance with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3 guidelines. Using these guidelines, HudBay prepared a B level report, which was third-party checked for the first time in the company's history.

'This year for the first time we engaged Deloitte & Touche LLP to assist us in determining our level of readiness for undergoing external verification on our CSR information and to check our GRI application level of self declaration,' said David Garofalo, HudBay's president and chief executive officer. 'To that end, we met the commitment we made last year to continuously improve our CSR reporting.'

HudBay's efforts in achieving GRI's requirements are noted in the report in a GRI Content Index along with page numbers for more information. The report also includes the location of sections on HudBay's Management Approach, and the TSM indicators.
